When you go on lodge, to ensure that the money you receive in lieu of expenses is compliant with HMRC requirements, your manager will write to you to tell you what you need to do.
It’s important that you read this note and follow the instructions as failure to comply with HMRC requirements might mean that the HMRC reconsider the provision of the £63 tax free payments for lodge loan. By asking for receipts, we are not looking to reclaim payments from our engineers.
The two things to remember are:
1. When you’re on lodge keep receipts for accommodation and food. The receipt amounts don’t have to add up to the lodge payment amount. It’s simply so we can demonstrate to HMRC that the payments are for lodge requirements.
2. On the day of return, complete the Formwize return or the Prove It app return. Make sure photos of your receipts are clearly legible.
